子供たちとの充実した時間
小平市の保育園「花小金井愛育園」で、子どもたちにビオトープのお話をしてきました。
ビオトープでもあるO's Gardenの写真や動画を一緒に楽しみながら、～「たくさんの生きものが、楽しそうに暮らす場所」～として、ビオトープについてお話ししました。
ダンゴムシの動画では、みんな大きな声を出して大盛り上がり。
ダンゴムシは、どこの園でも共通する「人気者」なんですね！
年長さんとの質問タイムでは、車座になって、難しい質問から可愛らしい質問まで、いろいろな質問ややり取りがありました。子どもたちの純真な心に触れる、とても楽しいひと時でした。
今回、子どもたちと一緒に生きものを見て、話をして、幼い頃にたくさんの生きものに触れ、観察したり、飼育したりすることは、「生きものって面白い！」という気持ちを育て、身近な自然を見る目につながっていくのだろうと感じました。
子どもたちにビオトープのお話をしながら、私自身もたくさんのことを教えてもらった、そんな充実した時間になりました。
Quality time with the children
I recently visited the Hanakoganei Aiikuen Nursery School in Kodaira City to talk to the children about biotopes.
While enjoying photos and videos of O's Garden—which is itself a biotope—we talked about what a biotope is: "a place where many living creatures happily make their homes."
Spending time looking at wildlife and talking with the children made me realize once again how important it is. Experiencing, observing, and raising many living creatures during childhood helps nurture a feeling of "Wildlife is so fascinating!" and opens our eyes to the nature right around us.
While sharing the story of biotopes with the children, I found myself learning so much from them as well. It was a truly fulfilling and heartwarming time.
