O’s Garden Featured on NHK’s “Shutoken Network”

Today, O’s Garden was featured in “Wagamachi Star,” a segment of NHK’s “Shutoken Network,” a regional news programme in the Tokyo area.

The programme showed how I live alongside wildlife in my home garden. It also introduced the biotope project I have been working on with children at Keyaki Elementary School.

O’s Garden began when I was a child who loved living creatures and built a small pond with my younger brother. For more than 40 years, I have observed the lives of the creatures in my garden and worked to create an environment where they can live by their own strength.

I hope this programme helped more people discover that even an ordinary home garden can be a place where we enjoy gardening while living alongside wildlife.

I also believe that giving children the opportunity to think from the perspective of living creatures and create places where they can live is an important step towards a better environment for our towns and cities.

Each garden may be small, but as wildlife finds a home in gardens and biotopes, and these places become connected, our towns and cities may become more welcoming places for wildlife.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at NHK who made this programme possible.

I will continue to care for O’s Garden and share the possibilities for biodiversity that can grow from the gardens around us.

Growing a better future for our towns, one small garden at a time.
